A bride and groom walk through confetti at Shaw House, Newbury, wedding

Shaw House

Shaw House is a beautiful wedding registry office that offers historic elegance and modern convenience, making it a perfect backdrop for weddings. One of the standout features of this venue is its grand staircase. The sweeping staircase provides a stunning backdrop for a photo of the couple, I took a couple and have included these in the gallery below. The interior is filled with natural light that floods through the large windows, creating bright and airy rooms that are tastefully decorated with permanent artificial flowers and fabric swathes

The exterior of Shaw House is equally impressive, with its traditional brickwork. The steps outside are ideal for post-ceremony confetti throwing. With plenty of parking available, guests will find it easy to attend without any stress, allowing them to fully enjoy the celebrations, there is a small walk from the car park to the venue that includes a flight of steps for anyone with additional mobility needs.

In addition to the beautiful architecture, Shaw House boasts a lovely lanscaped garden and sculpture park, providing ample opportunities for stunning outdoor wedding photos. The photos below are from early autumn and the colours were gorgeous.

5 Reasons To Consider
A Registry Office Wedding

Here are five reasons why you might consider having a registry office wedding:

Intimate and Personal

Registry office weddings are perfect for couples who prefer a more intimate atmosphere. With a smaller guest list, you can focus on celebrating with your closest loved ones in a more personal setting. I have attended weddings where I have been one of the witnesses as well as a photographer so if you are thinking about a super intimate ceremony this could be a perfect option

Cost-Effective

Opting for a registry office wedding can be significantly more affordable than traditional venues. This allows couples to save on expenses without compromising on the special moments, leaving more room in the budget for things like a memorable honeymoon (or splurging on photography!) Lots of couples who get married at a registry office then opt for lavish receptions at non 'wedding' venues.

Less Stress, More Simplicity

Registry office weddings often come with less planning stress. Many registry offices offer streamlined, all-inclusive packages that cover the essentials, freeing couples from the burden of managing too many details and letting them focus on enjoying their day.

Legal now, romance later

I've photographed a few weddings now that have had a registry office portion and then a celebrant later in the day or the week, meaning all the paperwork is out of the way and then the service can be personalised in any setting of your choice later.

Charming, Historic Venues

Many registry offices, like Shaw House, are located in beautiful, historic buildings that offer both character and charm.
