Cat is wonderful! She did an amazing job both on the day of the wedding and during the engagement shoot. She took so many gorgeous pictures, both posed and candid, during the ceremony and the reception. -Roberta

My name is Cat Brant
Hi! My Name is Cat! I offer a unique blend of documentary-style wedding photography with a refined approach that focuses on ensuring that the moments that are important to you are given direction. I'm based on the Surrey Hampshire border but travel to Newbury often for work and have photographed at Shaw House and The Vineyard as well as Sandford Springs Golf Course in 2024.
Let’s talk about Newbury—because if you’re looking for a wedding location that balances countryside charm with a touch of elegance, this is the place. Nestled in the heart of Berkshire, Newbury is one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem, with gorgeous venues, stunning backdrops, and just the right mix of history and natural beauty.
And when it comes to wedding venues, we have to start with Shaw House. This place is steeped in history—think grand Elizabethan architecture, dreamy high windows, and beautiful gardens that make the perfect setting for wedding portraits. It’s got that elegant, old-world feel, but in a way that still feels intimate and inviting. I can already picture the just-married confetti shot on the grand steps!
Then there’s The Vineyard, which is next-level luxury. If you’re a wine lover (or just appreciate a venue with serious style), this is the spot. The food? Incredible. The atmosphere? Effortlessly chic. And the best part? It’s a wedding-weekend kind of place, where you and your guests can celebrate in style, indulge in world-class dining, and make the most of the five-star experience. If you’re dreaming of a refined, elegant wedding with a contemporary feel, this one’s for you.
If you’re after something with a more relaxed countryside feel, Highclere Castle (yes, that Highclere—Downton Abbey, anyone?) is just a short drive away. Grand, iconic, and full of history, it’s ideal if you want a wedding that feels like it belongs in a period drama. The sweeping drive, the manicured gardens, the incredible stately rooms—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of venue.
And for those who love the idea of a barn wedding, Wasing Park is a dream. Think exposed beams, fairy lights, and a beautiful outdoor ceremony area. It’s got that perfect mix of rustic and refined, where every little detail just works. Plus, it has on-site accommodation, which makes for such a relaxed wedding experience. I am shooting a wedding here in May and I am SO excited!
1️⃣ Venue Style & Atmosphere – Newbury has everything from historic stately homes (Shaw House, Highclere Castle) to modern luxury hotels (The Vineyard) and countryside barns (Wasing Park). Think about the kind of feel you want for your wedding—grand and traditional, sleek and stylish, or rustic and romantic? There’s a venue here for every vibe.
2️⃣ Best Photo Locations – Dreaming of elegant, timeless wedding portraits? The gardens at Shaw House or Highclere Castle are perfection. Want a relaxed, countryside feel? Wasing Park’s fields and woodlands glow beautifully in golden-hour light. Love the idea of a luxurious indoor setting? The Vineyard has some of the most stylish interiors you’ll find.
3️⃣ Guest Experience – If you have guests travelling in from afar, venues like The Vineyard and Wasing Park offer on-site accommodation, making the experience so much smoother. If you’re choosing a countryside location like Highclere, consider arranging transport so your guests can fully relax and enjoy the day.
4️⃣ Seasonal Planning – Newbury is stunning all year round, but if you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, be sure to have a wet-weather backup (hello, elegant indoor spaces at Shaw House and Wasing Park). Autumn weddings in Newbury are incredible, with all those rich colours, and winter weddings at The Vineyard? Cosy, candlelit perfection.
5️⃣ Personal Touches – One of the best things about Newbury weddings is how customisable they are. Many venues allow you to bring in your own caterers, florists, and stylists, so whether you want a black-tie dinner or a relaxed festival-style wedding, you can really make it your own.
Newbury is such a dream location for weddings, offering everything from historic elegance to relaxed countryside charm. If you’re planning a wedding here, I’d love to hear all about it—tell me your venue, your vision, and let’s create something beautiful together! ✨
