Destination Wedding Photographer

If you're here looking for your destination wedding photographer, yey, you've found me!

If you’re dreaming of saying “I do” somewhere beautiful and sunny, whether it’s the Greek islands, the rolling hills of Tuscany or a chateau in France, then you’re in the right place. I’m a UK-based wedding photographer who travels for love stories that deserve to be documented beautifully and honestly.

Having planned my own Santorini wedding and photographed couples abroad, I understand both sides of what it takes to plan a destination wedding and how to make sure your photos feel effortless, natural and full of joy.

What’s a destination wedding?

A destination wedding is simply a wedding that takes place somewhere other than where you live, typically that's defined in the wedding industry as somewhere you have to travel over 3 hours to. That could be an intimate cliffside elopement in Santorini, a chic villa celebration in Italy, or a relaxed beach gathering in Portugal.

Lot's of couples choose destination weddings because they want almost guaranteed sun, spectacular views, creating memories that stretch beyond a single day and sometimes a way to force a more intimate celebration.

For couples planning a destination wedding, photography isn’t just a service, it’s an investment in preserving that entire adventure from the travel to the laughter and the late-night dinners, and everything in between. I often photograph much more than just a wedding day and sometimes even photograph the UK portion of weddings too.

Why choose me as your destination wedding photographer?

Because I get it. I’ve been the bride flying out with a dress in hand luggage and a to-do list a mile long. I know how light behaves against whitewashed walls and bright blue seas, and I know how to work quickly and discreetly so you actually live in your day instead of posing through it.

My approach blends documentary storytelling with gentle direction, meaning your gallery will feel cinematic, unposed and timeless. I also use flash creatively so you get those golden sunsets and evening receptions captured beautifully, without harsh lighting or missed moments.

I help couples plan realistic photo timelines, scout shoot locations in advance, and keep communication easy whether you’re at home in the UK or abroad sorting last-minute logistics.

What questions might you ask your destination wedding photographer?

If you’re planning from another country, communication and trust are everything. Here are a few things to ask:

  • Have you photographed weddings abroad before?

  • Do you help with travel planning or location scouting?

  • What’s included in your travel costs or package?

  • How do you handle backups, weather, and logistics abroad?

  • Can you recommend local suppliers or planners?

As someone who’s planned and shot weddings abroad, I’ve navigated it all from travel delays to venue restrictions and I’ll make sure you feel supported from start to finish.

Sharing a destination wedding photographer with another bride

Yes, it happens more often than you’d think! If two couples are getting married close together in the same region, sharing a photographer can help with travel & accomodation costs so that the overall cost of photography can be brought down for both couples.

I occasionally offer shared coverage for couples marrying within a few days of each other on the same island or region. It’s a brilliant way to get beautiful, cohesive photography without doubling up on expenses, especially if you’re eloping midweek or having an intimate day.

Average cost of a destination wedding photographer

On average, UK-based destination wedding photographers charge between £2,000 and £4,000, depending on travel distance, coverage hours and location.

My own destination wedding photography typically starts at £3,000, which includes travel days, full-day coverage, and all high-resolution edited images. Every wedding is unique though so if you’d like something more bespoke, I can tailor a quote that fits your plans perfectly.

hi! I'm cat and i am a full time wedding photographer
(and a little bit of a photography geek!)

I started taking photos as a teenager, my Dad was a wedding photographer and I would often help him. In 2021 I left my corporate job with a dream and hope that I could make photography a full time job. Since then I have been pouring my heart and soul into this business and have been honoured to be chosen as wedding photographer for so many lovely couples as well as being a portrait and event photographer.
I TAKE CLASSIC, TIMELESS, DOCUMENTARY STYLE PHOTOGRAPHS WITH MINIMAL INTRUSION

But I will step in and offer gentle guidance when it's right to do so, I have learned over the years to read the room, anticipate the next move, hold space when needed and offer support when I can.

aRE YOU LOOKING FOR A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
When choosing a wedding photographer, consider their style, experience, portfolio, and reviews from previous clients. It's also important to discuss pricing, availability, and any specific requests you may have.

Don't forget to meet with them in person to ensure you have good chemistry and feel comfortable with their approach.

Once you have narrowed down your list of potential wedding photographers, it's a good idea to ask them some key questions to help you make your final decision.

Here are a few questions to consider:

  • What is your photography style? Do you prefer a more traditional approach or a more candid, documentary style?

  • Do you have experience with weddings of a similar size and style to mine?

  • Can I see a full gallery of a recent wedding you photographed? This will give you a better sense of their consistency and quality of work.

  • Do you have backup equipment in case something goes wrong on the day of the wedding?

  • How do you handle difficult lighting situations (e.g. low light, harsh sunlight, indoor vs. outdoor)? This will help you gauge their technical expertise.

  • What is included in your packages? Are there any additional fees I should be aware of (e.g. travel, overtime)?

  • How long will it take to receive my photos after the wedding? Will they be edited and retouched?

  • Can you accommodate any special requests I have (e.g. specific shots, family portraits)?

  • How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the day of the wedding?

By asking these questions and having an open and honest conversation with your wedding photographer, you can ensure that you find the right fit for your big day.
