Highfield Park- Your Dream Wedding Independent Wedding Venue in Hampshire? - A Photographers View

Updated: Feb 11

This summer, I had the pleasure of photographing my first wedding at Highfield Park, and I was bowled over by the beauty and atmosphere of the place. I have since been back this autumn for another shoot. Experiencing Highfield Park across different seasons has given me a fuller view of everything this venue offers, and it’s safe to say it’s one of those rare spots that truly shines year-round.

Coming from a wedding photographer’s perspective, I wanted to share some of my honest thoughts and observations with you. Highfield Park stands out as a wedding venue, and in this blog, I’ll give you an unbiased look at why I think it’s an incredible choice for your big day.

Highfield Park- An Outdoors Wedding in Hampshire.

On a good day there is nothing like the English countryside and the views here are just stunning, the pavilion structure is based on a lawn with far-reaching panoramic views to the right and with large trees behind.

The Folly is a stone-pillared structure and provides a simply stunning classic backdrop outdoors.

Highfield Park also offers several indoor rooms in case the English weather isn't on your side.

I took this ariel shot on a grey day in November after all the long grass had been cut back, in the summer the lawn leads to an area of long billowing grass that would make some fabulous golden hour images.

The Pavillion

The aisle walk for the ceremony at the pavilion is slightly longer than you'd get inside and as such it's fabulous for photos because you have plenty of time for lots of emotion to build and perfect images to be taken. Natasha & Lez had flowers decorating the pavilion at Highfield Park from Clementines Fruit & Veg.

Far Reaching Views

Gorgeous scenery that raps around the whole venue.

Bride and groom walk hand in hand under a tree in a scenic, grassy landscape, conveying a serene and romantic mood.

A safe space for kids to roam

The lovely manicured lawn offers a space for garden games and room for kids to roam in a safe visible space. I'm a Mum so that would be a real game-changer for me! Here's one I took of the flower girls running on the lawn.

Two girls in pink dresses joyfully run on a grassy field. Tall grass and trees form the background, evoking a sense of freedom and playfulness.

A place for car lovers!

I loved the front elevation for parking your wedding car without the clutter of dozens of other cars or an ugly car park. The frontage offers the grandeur required for something epic!

Bride joyfully poses in a flowing white dress, holding a bouquet by a red sports car. Brick mansion and green trees in the background.

A gorgeous place for confetti!

This door and steps are also a gorgeous place for group photos and couples photos. I love the symmetry offered by the windows.

Bride and groom exiting among cheering guests throwing confetti. Bride holds flowers. Red brick building backdrop. Joyful celebration.

Indoors:

The bar room has really lovely light streaming in from a conservatory room to the side.

  • Stylish room with a dark sofa, striped stools, and art on a green wall. A lit lamp adds warmth. White door and geometric decor visible.

Two men in suits hug joyfully in a warmly lit room with green walls. A woman smiles nearby. The mood is celebratory and welcoming.

hi! I'm cat and i am a full time wedding photographer
(and a little bit of a photography geek!)

I started taking photos as a teenager, my Dad was a wedding photographer and I would often help him. In 2021 I left my corporate job with a dream and hope that I could make photography a full time job. Since then I have been pouring my heart and soul into this business and have been honoured to be chosen as wedding photographer for so many lovely couples as well as being a portrait and event photographer.
I TAKE CLASSIC, TIMELESS, DOCUMENTARY STYLE PHOTOGRAPHS WITH MINIMAL INTRUSION

But I will step in and offer gentle guidance when it's right to do so, I have learned over the years to read the room, anticipate the next move, hold space when needed and offer support when I can.

aRE YOU LOOKING FOR A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
When choosing a wedding photographer, consider their style, experience, portfolio, and reviews from previous clients. It's also important to discuss pricing, availability, and any specific requests you may have.

Don't forget to meet with them in person to ensure you have good chemistry and feel comfortable with their approach.

Once you have narrowed down your list of potential wedding photographers, it's a good idea to ask them some key questions to help you make your final decision.

Here are a few questions to consider:

  • What is your photography style? Do you prefer a more traditional approach or a more candid, documentary style?

  • Do you have experience with weddings of a similar size and style to mine?

  • Can I see a full gallery of a recent wedding you photographed? This will give you a better sense of their consistency and quality of work.

  • Do you have backup equipment in case something goes wrong on the day of the wedding?

  • How do you handle difficult lighting situations (e.g. low light, harsh sunlight, indoor vs. outdoor)? This will help you gauge their technical expertise.

  • What is included in your packages? Are there any additional fees I should be aware of (e.g. travel, overtime)?

  • How long will it take to receive my photos after the wedding? Will they be edited and retouched?

  • Can you accommodate any special requests I have (e.g. specific shots, family portraits)?

  • How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the day of the wedding?

By asking these questions and having an open and honest conversation with your wedding photographer, you can ensure that you find the right fit for your big day.
