Santorini Destination Wedding Photographer Based in the UK

Dreaming of a wedding in Santorini? With its whitewashed churches, blue-domed chapels, and breathtaking sunsets over the Aegean, it’s one of the most popular destination wedding locations for UK couples.

Getting married abroad comes with its own unique challenges. That’s where I come in. I’m a UK-based Santorini wedding photographer who has not only photographed weddings on the island, I was also a bride in Santorini myself. That means I know exactly what it takes to plan, travel, and celebrate your wedding in one of the most iconic places in the world.

Why Book a UK-Based Photographer for Your Santorini Wedding?

When you’re planning a wedding abroad, it can be tempting to book a local photographer. But many UK couples find it easier and more reassuring to choose someone who shares their language, culture, and expectations.

As a UK bride who got married in Santorini – and now a professional photographer capturing weddings there I offer:

  • Personal insight: I know the excitement (and nerves!) of flying abroad for your wedding.

  • Island knowledge: Having spent multiple weeks in Santorini, I’ve explored Oia, Imerovigli, Pyrgos, and beyond so I know the best backdrops for photos.

  • Consistent style: My documentary-meets-editorial photography blends beautifully with the island’s bright whites and deep blues.

  • Pre wedding shoots, in person meetings, the ease of us both being in the same time zone and locality offers ease.

Booking a Santorini destination wedding photographer from the UK means you can meet in person before the wedding, have a pre-wedding shoot if you’d like, and enjoy clear, seamless communication throughout your journey.

Mastering the Santorini Light

One of the biggest challenges in Santorini is the light. The island is famous for its dazzling whites and dramatic sunsets, which can be tricky if you don’t know how to work with them.

Here’s how my style makes the most of it:

  • Fresh & clean colours: No washed-out whites – just crisp, natural tones.

  • Sunset portraits: I use flash photography in a soft, modern way that enhances the warm glow without losing the romance.

  • After-dark magic: From candlelit dinners to dancing under the stars, I make sure the moments after sunset are just as beautifully captured.

Pre-Wedding, Post-Wedding & Guest Photography

A Santorini wedding isn’t just about the day itself – it’s an experience. Many couples extend their photography to make the most of being on the island.

  • Pre-wedding shoots: A relaxed session before the big day, often around Oia or Imerovigli.

  • Post-wedding shoots: Time to explore the island in your wedding attire without the pressure of a timeline.

  • Guest coverage: More than just portraits of the couple – I capture your guests enjoying the celebrations too.

This way, you’ll return home with a full story of your Santorini wedding adventure.

What UK Brides Should Know Before Getting Married in Santorini

Planning your Santorini wedding from the UK? Here are a few practical tips:

  • Travel: Flights from London take just under 4 hours, and hiring a car makes exploring easy if you’re happy driving. The Greek locals drive very aggressively and I’d suggest you have to be a very confident driver to navigate the busier streets.

  • Venues: Popular wedding spots include Dana Villas, Andronis, and Santorini Gem – each with iconic caldera views but there are tons of stunning venues so don’t overlook smaller or less popular venues. I got married at Pygros Restraunt.

  • Timing: Sunset weddings are hugely popular, but be prepared for crowds in Oia. A weekday ceremony or private villa offers more privacy and photo opportunities.

  • Heat & light: Summer is hot, and the midday sun is harsh. A later ceremony is often more comfortable and flattering for photos.

Having been both a UK bride and a photographer in Santorini, I can guide you through what works best and help you feel prepared.

More Than Just a Photographer – Your Wedding Bestie Abroad

My couples often say I’m more than just their photographer, I’m the calm, friendly presence who helps them feel comfortable and keeps things running smoothly. On a destination wedding day, that support is priceless.

If you’re looking for someone who understands the UK wedding planning process, knows Santorini inside out, and can capture your wedding with a timeless, modern style. I’d love to be that person for you.

hi! I'm cat and i am a full time wedding photographer
(and a little bit of a photography geek!)

I started taking photos as a teenager, my Dad was a wedding photographer and I would often help him. In 2021 I left my corporate job with a dream and hope that I could make photography a full time job. Since then I have been pouring my heart and soul into this business and have been honoured to be chosen as wedding photographer for so many lovely couples as well as being a portrait and event photographer.
I TAKE CLASSIC, TIMELESS, DOCUMENTARY STYLE PHOTOGRAPHS WITH MINIMAL INTRUSION

But I will step in and offer gentle guidance when it's right to do so, I have learned over the years to read the room, anticipate the next move, hold space when needed and offer support when I can.

aRE YOU LOOKING FOR A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
When choosing a wedding photographer, consider their style, experience, portfolio, and reviews from previous clients. It's also important to discuss pricing, availability, and any specific requests you may have.

Don't forget to meet with them in person to ensure you have good chemistry and feel comfortable with their approach.

Once you have narrowed down your list of potential wedding photographers, it's a good idea to ask them some key questions to help you make your final decision.

Here are a few questions to consider:

  • What is your photography style? Do you prefer a more traditional approach or a more candid, documentary style?

  • Do you have experience with weddings of a similar size and style to mine?

  • Can I see a full gallery of a recent wedding you photographed? This will give you a better sense of their consistency and quality of work.

  • Do you have backup equipment in case something goes wrong on the day of the wedding?

  • How do you handle difficult lighting situations (e.g. low light, harsh sunlight, indoor vs. outdoor)? This will help you gauge their technical expertise.

  • What is included in your packages? Are there any additional fees I should be aware of (e.g. travel, overtime)?

  • How long will it take to receive my photos after the wedding? Will they be edited and retouched?

  • Can you accommodate any special requests I have (e.g. specific shots, family portraits)?

  • How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the day of the wedding?

By asking these questions and having an open and honest conversation with your wedding photographer, you can ensure that you find the right fit for your big day.
