Planning a proposal in Berkshire and want a place that feels special? These are the locations couples love.
They're easy to reach and they look fantastic in photographs. Berkshire has parks, castles, rivers and countryside so there is something for every couple.
If you want the moment captured I can help you plan it so it feels relaxed and natural. I've photographed so many couples across the county and know where the light works best. Here are ten tried and tested places to consider for your proposal.
1. Windsor Great Park
This is one of the most popular outdoor spaces in the county. It has long walks, open land and quiet corners where you can ask the question without an audience. There is room to explore if you want privacy. Morning or evening light works well here.

2. The Long Walk near Windsor Castle
This is one for couples who want an iconic backdrop. The path leading toward the castle is instantly recognisable. A proposal here feels classic and simple. It is best at sunrise or sunset when the crowds thin out. If you're using an incognito photographer, they'll blend in with tourists taking photos of the castle!
3. Bisham Abbey and Marlow Riverside
Marlow has the Thames the bridge and plenty of places to sit and talk before you get the ring out. Bisham Abbey gives the proposal a historic feel while the riverside nearby offers relaxed photographs afterwards.

4. Basildon Park
Basildon Park is a National Trust estate with clean lines and open lawns. The grounds have many quiet paths and sweeping views. If you want photos in nature without getting muddy this works well.
5. Cliveden House Gardens
Cliveden House is smart and elegant. The grounds have terraces a fountain and structured gardens that always look tidy in pictures. You do not need a room booking to enjoy the outside space. If you want a proposal that feels polished this is the spot.
6. Virginia Water Lake
Virginia Water is peaceful with lakeside trails that go on for miles. There are spots beside the water that feel private even on a busy day. The water picks up reflections on a calm evening which creates simple natural photographs.

7. Donnington Castle
Donnington Castle gives you drama without effort. The ruins sit on a hill with wide views of the land around it. It suits couples who like something different and do not mind a few steps up the slope.
8. The Savill Garden
The Savill Garden has planting that changes across the year so it never looks dull. Spring brings fresh colour and summer has full foliage. There are quiet paths and benches where you can take a moment before you ask.

9. Welford Park in Snowdrop Season
Welford Park is best between January and March when the snowdrops bloom. The woodland floor turns white and makes a simple and natural setting for a winter proposal. Bring a coat and enjoy an early start.
10. A Meaningful Spot of Your Own
Sometimes the best location is not on any list. Think of the first date the first flat the village pub or the walk you always do together. A proposal feels more personal when it links back to your story. I can join you for subtle documentary style photographs wherever you choose.

When to Propose for the Best Light
Good light makes a difference and it doesn't cost anything.
Try early morning or late afternoon. Avoid the middle of the day where shadows are strong.
Top tip for intimate photos: Weekdays are better than weekends if you want fewer people around.
What to Wear
You will feel better if you are comfortable. Neutral colours always work in photos.
Leave bright prints at home.
Practical: Think warm layers for cold weather and shoes that can handle a walk.
How to Make It Feel Personal
Bring a small picnic, maybe a bottle of bubbles too!
Add a playlist on your phone
Bring your dog or involve your kids
Keep a small gift ready after the ring.
Tell close family afterwards instead of before if you want to reduce nerves
