Fetcham Park Surrey: A Stunning Location for Wedding Photos

Writer: lucindacopyconnectlucindacopyconnect

While it’s not advertised as a wedding venue,  Fetcham Park is a hidden gem in Surrey for gorgeous wedding photo opportunities. If you’re looking for an elegant, historic location for your wedding – this is a must for your dream location list.

An Introduction to Fetcham Park

Located just outside of Leatherhead, Fetcham Park is a stunning Grade II listed Queen Anne-style mansion. Steeped in grandeur and history, it’s now used as a meeting and event space. There’s everything you could ask for in a wedding location at this venue – both the interior and exterior settings are to die for, plus it’s conveniently located and completely private.

Why Fetcham Park is a Wedding Photographer’s Dream

Honestly, this has got to be one of the best locations if you’re looking for variety. The amount of gorgeous backdrops to choose from for your wedding portraits is immense. I still haven’t been able to shoot in every location yet, so I’m always excited to visit again!

From elegant and pretty to Downton Abbey-style opulence – you’ve got everything covered here. There’s plenty of space for wide shots of the whole wedding party, and then there are some perfect locations for the couple-only snaps.

The windows are huge, so there’s a lot of natural light to work with which always creates the most flattering and classic shots.

Best Photo Moments at Fetcham Park

Romantic shots in the French gardens: The gardens at Fetcham Park are truly beautiful, so if you’re blessed with the sunshine on your special day, photos out here are a must. Manicured shrubs, water features and elegant statues create the most gorgeous setting.

A stunning entrance on the grand staircase:

If you want some dramatic shots showing off your dress or want to make a big entrance to your guests – this dark wood sweeping staircase is perfect.

Sparkling celebrations in The Salon:

If this is where you have your wedding breakfast, then expect some spectacular portraits. Even before the room’s been decorated it’s magnificent with gold leaf walls, a huge chandelier and an ornately painted ceiling.

Play Lord and Lady of the Manor by the fountain:

This is a must for a couple shot. The huge fountain on the driveway with the manor house set behind you is your opportunity to have some fun playing the part or to keep it simple and elegant.

My last Fetcham Park wedding was for Zee and Fred, who had a gorgeous winter wedding in December. They had their ceremony and reception in different event rooms, so we really got to take advantage of the venue.

How to Get the Best Wedding Photos at Fetcham Park

Your wedding day will be gone in a flash and will probably feel like a blur by the end. After being lucky enough to have photographed plenty of weddings, here are some of my top tips for getting the most out of the day and your photos:

  1. Make the most of the space: wherever you choose, take the time to get familiar with the space and talk it through with your photographer. If you choose a venue like Fetcham Park, then make sure you make the most of it and take advantage of all the different settings for both formal and candid shots.

  2. Treasure the quiet moments: after the ceremony you’ll have a chance to take a little breather and have some photos of just the two of you. Enjoy it! With so many people to chat to throughout the day – this is a time for just the two of you.

  3. Be prepared: I don’t have to tell you about the good old British weather, so make sure you’re prepared to compromise and for your photographer to improvise if it’s a rainy day. And when you’re somewhere like Fetcham Park, there’ll always be an equally lovely photo opportunity indoors, even if you were pinning your hopes on something else. And if you are insistent on some garden shots – organise some big umbrellas!

Join me every month while I dive into sessions, show examples of my work in more detail and give advice to other aspiring boudoir photographers on my blog.  What can you hope to achieve reading this blog?

An inside look into creative sessions

Each month I try to experiment with at least one session, these are discounted sessions for clients who are happy to share images and if you'd like to be considered for a creative session please do subscribe for updates. These creative sessions usually create amazingly different photographs unlike most boudoir photographers in the UK and I am always striving for a uniqueness that aligns with my clients personality and individuality.

More in-depth full sessions

I also show more in-depth shoots from parties, cake smashes and engagements among other on location and studio portrait sessions for those wishing to see a more in depth look at how their shoots may look and what I can achieve.

Studio Boundaries

The blog is also where you may wish to read my studio boundaries for Boudoir sessions, these boundaries differ from studio to studio and I want to be upfront about these before you enquire incase you are looking to create images with a partner or video footage etc.

Some tips and tricks I've picked up

I love everything about photography, I definitely identify as a bit of a photography nerd! As I buy new kit and experiment I hope to pass on some of the lessons I learn to other photography nerds!
